Rayeesa is passionate about sharing the flavours of her native Hyderabad with you. Her love of cooking started when she was a little girl helping her mum in the kitchen, and watching and learning how to create mouth-watering dishes for friends and family. She has put together some of her favourite dishes and created her Spiced by Rayeesa range of frozen curry sauces.
As an ex police officer who served in the Metropolitan Police in London, Rayeesa and her family of 5 moved from London to Herefordshire. My husband and I made a decision to move from London from our very hectic lifestyles so that we could give our young family a better quality of life in the country. What happened next simply blew us away. We quickly connected into our new community through school and church and I found myself in my ‘happy place’ inviting friends, family and even strangers over for dinner. After all food is one of the greatest ways to show love and community and Indian food works perfectly for this as it’s all about sharing amazing tastes, and stories over the table. My food journey has been totally unexpected, but an absolutely natural extension to my life. From teaching to cooking to helping others. My motto is to equip, inspire and release…
The spiced story
Moving from London to Herefordshire and leaving my policing career behind was the catalyst that was needed to bring my Indian cooking passion back to life.
After starting my cookery school in our farm house kitchen, I knew that there was a real hunger around for experiencing real authentic Indian food, after all it is the Nation’s favourite dish!
I was walking around a local supermarket in Hereford and I looked around the shelves wanting something quick, tasty and healthy for the family, but couldn’t find anything that I liked (I had tried several chilled, ambient and jarred sauces, but nothing really tasted fresh as I expected it to). I thought to myself ‘One day I’ll create a product that people can use to cook amazing curries at home, and it will be available here’.
Be careful what you say, because a few years later I am doing just that, working to get our frozen Indian curry cooking sauces out there.
Our flavours are inspired by the Southern Indian flavours of Hyderabad, its a region known for its rich food and where I lived as a toddler.
